One of the most basic guard escapes out there, but one everyone should know.

Step 1

Jay is in Adrian's closed guard.

Jay puts his hands on Adrian's hips and drives his elbow into the inside of his thighs.

Step 3

The pain/pressure causes Adrian's guard to open and Jay continues to drive his leg to the ground with his elbow.

Step 4

Jay slides his shin onto Adrian's leg, replacing his elbow, moving around toward side control.

Step 5

Jay uses his other leg to block Adrian's ankle. This will help keep Adrian from catching him in half guard when he slides out to side control.

Jay passes the leg and ends in side control.
