Simple Guard Pass

No votes yet

Here is a simple guard pass, yet most don't use it. In the video I'll show the move, then break it down, then show it one more time. Helping me out is LockFlows own Kevinlace.

  • Start in the guard
  • Starting in your opponents guard. First posture up and place your hands on your opponents hips "nailing his hips to the ground".
  • Open the guard
  • While his hips are on the mat, start to move your body backward (this will open his legs). Always keeping pressure down on his hips. Now bring your right knee inside his guard...
  • Blocking your pass
  • Your opponent will try to block your pass by putting his hand on your knee...
  • Bring in the oher knee
  • While your opponent is thinking about your right knee passing, bring your left knee into the middle of his guard.
  • Continue to side...
  • Continue to side your left knee and hip across his body to his left side...
  • Side control
  • You've now passed his guard and are in side control.

My favorite pass, works even better if you pin down that knee you're slicing over.

I'll try this one although I'm sketpical I can pull it off when the opponent is going to go for deep collar grip when I put both my hands on his hips.
